Sunday Morning Music – Winter 2024

Winter 2024 – 9 weeks, 45 minute weekly sessions

- Location: Hope Recreation Centre, Mezzanine
- Event Description: Join us on Sunday mornings for family-friendly music making! This class will explore different aspects of melody, harmony, and rhythm through singing, instrument exploration, rhythmic activities, and hands-on demonstrations. Babies and tots can shake and rattle along, while older kids can sing and dance, as well as try a variety of more complex instruments. We will sing old favourites, learn new tunes, and explore many different musical genres. All instruments will be provided, and each week will feature a different surprise “instrument of the week” for participants to see up close and learn more about. A variety of take-home materials and resources will be provided so your musical explorations can continue all week long! Note: All children must be accompanied by an adult guardian.

- Event Description: Whether your little one loves to shimmy and shake to a good tune, is an aspiring ballerina, is always game for a good action song, or thrives on imaginative play, this class is sure to be a fun-filled exploration of rhythm and movement! This class is designed to introduce children and their caregivers to basic elements of rhythm and dance, including body awareness, self-expression, experimentation, coordination, and creative movement. Through a variety of games, activities, and imaginative guided play, participants will be exposed to different dance genres and styles, introduced to rhythmic techniques, and encouraged to “move to the music” in all kinds of fun new ways! Note: All children must be accompanied by an adult guardian, and children must be able to walk steadily on their own.

Music in the Park – Summer 2023

Summer 2023 – 10 weeks, 45 minute weekly sessions

- Location: Memorial Park, Hope, BC
- Event Description: Join me for some music making in the park! We will explore different aspects of melody, harmony, rhythm through singing, and learn about different instruments and timbre (the quality of a sound – what makes every sound unique!) with hands on exploration and demonstrations. Babies and tots can shake or rattle along, older kids can sing and dance along. We will sing old favourites, learn new tunes, and explore all different genres. There will also be a new surprise instrument each week for us to see up close and learn about! The program will go for 45 mins each week, starting at 10am, and then we can mix, mingle, visit, and play however long people are able. All instruments will be provided – but bring a blanket to sit on (or folding chair for those who find it difficult to sit on the ground) and we will find a shady spot in the park to make our circle!
